Democracy In Distress
The idea of fair elections, meaning that elections are
fairly conducted, that every vote is counted and that the results are trusted
enough that the transition of power is conducted peacefully, is the strongest
principal that the United States exists on.
It is the bedrock that the very idea of America is built on. It is the root of the moral authority that
allows our nation to possess the leadership role in the world that has been
our privilege, in one form or another, for over two centuries. If
there is ever any question that the sanctity of America’s electoral process
has been violated, it must be answered.
The election in question must be thoroughly investigated and any
doubts as to the validity of the results must be resolved. And
if any fraud or tampering is ever discovered, it must be prosecuted with the
full wrath of the American People who, through such blasphemous violence
against this nation, have had their very identities as Americans soiled,
demeaned and, perhaps, even destroyed. Once
any such questions are answered, and especially until these questions are
answered, it is the responsibility of all who dissent, all who’s views and
values are not accepted by the standing government, to voice their dissent,
to stand up and to display their views for all to see and to challenge the
standing government and the very system itself. It is vital that the minority is not brushed aside and
forgotten. If
the sanctity of our electoral process is the bedrock of our democracy, then
freedom of speech, dissent and the rights of those in the minority to have a
welcome place in the conversation that is our government are the foundations
of America, the foundations that support everything we, as a nation, hold
dear. This
year there is a real chance that both the bedrock and the foundation our
country will be irreparably damaged.
Damaged in such a way that our country may never recover. We, as a nation, regardless of our
personal beliefs and religious values, cannot allow this to happen. This
website hopes to be a small voice shouting out against such a
catastrophe. Even more, it hopes to
help others find their small voices so that, speaking together, we can make a
noise too loud to be ignored or denied. |
